Vocational prospects

For the compulsory elective field of clinical expertise

Graduates of the Bachelor’s course oriented towards midwifery focus on the provision of care, advice and support to the physiological procedures during pregnancy, labour and puerperium, as well as the original tasks of the midwife associated with this work. The graduates are capable of reflecting on their actions and justifying these based on evidence. They organise their field of activity based on concepts such as salutogenesis, attentiveness, resilience and empowerment.
The Bachelor of Science oriented towards midwifery enables students to access the consecutive Master’s degree in clinical expertise, which includes further training as a family midwife. Graduates are capable of managing projects aimed at change or the introduction of evidence-based findings in outpatient and inpatient settings. A further application area is collaboration on research projects.

For the compulsory elective field of management

Graduates of the compulsory elective field of management are prepared for process control and for assuming budget responsibility in middle management. The students gain sound management psychology and business skills, and are therefore capable of performing middle level managerial tasks in a range of healthcare operations and facilities.
Possible application areas are acute hospitals from basic through to maximum medical care, rehabilitation clinics, inpatient facilities for the elderly, outpatient nursing and care facilities, birthing centres, medical practices and rehabilitation centres, charitable organisations, state and private medical insurers, healthcare management organisations such as consultancies, software providers, occupational and healthcare policy roles within professional associations and on health policy committees.

For the compulsory elective field of education

The Bachelor’s degree with the compulsory elective subject education directly qualifies graduates to provide practical guidance in health and welfare professions according to the legal regulations. Furthermore, it constitutes the foundation for the consecutive Master’s degree “Education in Healthcare and Nursing”, the successful completion of which enables graduates to perform tutor and guidance roles for example within schools for healthcare professions, and teaching in relevant specialist fields at vocational schools. These concrete future prospects are complemented by diverse possibilities for applying and utilising the educational expertise gained within the respective professional field.
